DOVER - Nelda "Kate" Thomas of Dover, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Kent General Hospital. Mrs. Thomas was born May 28, 1938 in Texarkana, Texas to the late Jesse Trusty and Sible Trusty, the oldest of nine children. She had served in the United States Army, where she was a cook. While in the Army she met and married her husband Samuel. After the Army they moved to Delaware and worked on the Thomas family dairy farm and at their Dairy Store Market, which later became Dairy Queen at Camden light. Sam and Kate later opened up a vacuum repair store, in 1980's till 2004, she had also worked at Spences Sale as a clerk and casher for the auctions. She had served on the 34th Rep. Democratic Committee. Kate enjoyed puzzles, game shows, and reading. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Thomas 2010; sisters, Frances Thomas and Margaret Clark. She is survived by her daughter, Christina Smith and her husband Mark of Camden; brothers, Clifton Trusty of Texarkana, TX, Travis Trusty of Nash, TX and Melvin Trusty and his wife Sandy of Louisville, KY; sisters, Jessie Nolan and her husband Thomas of West Point, MS, Teresa Foreman of Leonardville, KS and Sandra Sue Lewis of Texarkana, TX; grandchildren, Katie and Chris Mathews; great grandchildren, Alicia, Mercedes and Aiden. Nieces and nephews, Loretta Thomas, Ginger Jazarili, Roger and Kenneth Thomas Thomas; also caring for her were Cory Boxley Cassandra Reid and Evita Williams and many more; she is also survived by, three great nieces; three, great great nephews and one great great niece as well as other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 7PM, Monday, July13, 2015 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call from 6-8.
