DOVER - Nakeya Shamar Singletary-Hodge, affectionately called "KeKe" or "Keya," of Dover, departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 18.
She was born to Anthony and Nelphine Hodge on May 3, 1989.
Nakeya was educated in the Capital School District and at Christian High School in Dover.
She attended services at Harvest Time Ministries, Millsboro, and at New World Deliverance Church, Camden.
Nakeya was "the life" of any environment she was in. She loved to crack jokes and say of do silly things that would make you laugh.
She loved her family and always looked forward to being with them.
A few of her favorite pastimes were braiding hair, dancing, listening to music, taking care of her dog and being around those she cared for.
Nakeya was a loving mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend.
Her smile and joking ways will remain in our hearts forever.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her precious son, Andre' Cannon Jr.; one sister, Tiekeya "Monique" Singletary of Dover; one stepsister, Vanity Correa of Seaford; one brother, Lamont Singletary and wife Vanecia of Dover; four nieces, Angel, Aleceonia, Emani and Lanecia; one nephew, Vance; her paternal grandfather, Riceton Johns of Laurel: her paternal great-grandmother, Genora Hodge of Dagsboro; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Welcome Full Gospel Church in Lincoln, where friends may view two hours prior.
Burial will be in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.
