Minna (Probeck) Wettengel, 96

DOVER - Minna (Probeck) Wettengel, formerly of Hempstead, Long Island, N.Y., passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover, at 96 years of age.

Mrs. Wettengel was former president of the Garden City (N.Y.) Woman's Club, and past chairwoman of the Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer Nursing Program at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, Long Island, N.Y., during the 1950s and 1960s. She was responsible for organizing many fundraisers for various hospitals and schools during those years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Herbert J. Wettengel, in 1996.

She is survived by her son, Carl H. Wettengel and daughter-in-law Carmela of Middletown, formerly of Northport, Long Island, N.Y.; a grandson, David A. Wettengel and his wife Melissa of Northport; a granddaughter, Amanda L. Alberding and her husband Steven R. Alberding of Middletown; her great-granddaughter, Katerina Eve Wettengel; her great-grandsons, Andrew Jay Alberding, Bryan Hunter Alberding and Carson Myles Alberding; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover.
