Mildred O. Poore, 79

HARRINGTON - Mildred O. Poore of Harrington died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 79.

Mrs. Poore was born in Harrington, daughter of the late Howard and Edith Hobbs.

She was a homemaker. She devoted her time to raising her family. In the "80s, she worked at the concession stand at the race track for many years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and playing bingo. She also enjoyed going to the horse races. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When their parents said no, they knew they could count on Mom-Mom to say yes.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be sorely missed by her family.

Mrs. Poore actively participated at the Evergreen Senior Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Poore.

She is survived by a son, Ronald A. Poore of Harrington; three daughters, Patricia A. Leonard of Harrisburg, Pa., Margaret J. Dougherty of Wilmington and Joanne Cereghino of Port St. John, Fla.; a sister, Irene Clark of Milford; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
