Mildred E. Wells

Mildred E. Wells, 94 HARRINGTON - Mildred E. Wells, 94, formerly of Harrington, passed away peacefully in her cottage at Westminster Village in Dover on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. She was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Calvin W. Wells. Born April 25, 1916, in Laurel, she was the daughter of Harry and Helen English. She was a graduate of Laurel High School and received a BS degree from the University of Delaware. She taught home economics for over 30 years in the Lord Baltimore, Felton and Milford school districts. Mildred was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrington. She is survived by her two sons, Donald and his wife Dagmar of State College, Pa., and Richard and his wife Maureen of Manassas, Va.; four grandchildren, Diana Weber of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Wells of Columbus, Miss., Allison Wells and Christine Wells of Manassas, Va.; one great-grandson, JR Weber; a nephew, Fred English; and a niece, Shirley Roby. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Harold English and Ralph English. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., on June 5, 2010, at Westminster Village, Dover, with interment following at Barrett's Chapel, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in her name to the Special Olympics Delaware, University of Delaware, Newark, DE 19716-1901. Arrangements by Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
