CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Michael Thomas Sturgill known to family and friends as "Mike", peacefully departed this life on Saturday, Mar. 3, 2017, due to natural causes.
Mike was born Apr. 3, 1971, in Dover to Roy C. and the late Johnnie Gayle Sturgill.
Mike is survived by his children, Brenna Larimore, of Georgetown and Azalyn and Ayden Sturgill, of Charlotte, N.C.
Mike is also survived by his father, Roy C. Sturgill, of Bristol, Va.; and four siblings, Madonna Jacobs and her husband, Jerry, of Dover, Mary Buchmoyer and her husband, Steve, of Hartly, Jonathan Sturgill and his wife, Connie, of Greenwood, Chris Sturgill, of Milford; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him.
Mike grew up in Milford, across the street from Steven Watson, whom he became best of friends with from the age of four. Their respective families unofficially adopted each of them. This friendship lasted through school, into adulthood and is still just as strong after Mike's passing.
Mike attended Milford Senior High school and graduated in 1990. During his tenure at Milford Senior High School, Mike was a National Honor Society student and a cross country athlete.
After graduation Mike attended Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., and Cheyney University in Pennsylvania.
Michael will be missed by many.
