Michael Phillip 'Fafe' Acocella, 78

DOVER - Michael Phillip "Fafe" Acocella, of Dover, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009, in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 78. He was born on Feb. 16, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Angelo "Michael" and Yolanda (Ferrara) Acocella. Michael served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. He had worked for William H. Swan and Sons for 23 years before they closed and 20 years for Dover Hardware before they closed and for the past three years he worked in sales at Ace Hardware on Route 8 in Dover. Michael enjoyed his grandchildren and watching their baseball games. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Acocella, and Tony Acocella. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Bonnie (Bischoff) Acocella; a daughter, Terilynn Satterfield of Harrington; a son, Brett Smith and his wife Debbie of Montoursville, Pa.; three sisters, Anna Williams of Florida, Catherine Capacione of Staten Island, N.Y., and Marie DeCastro of Florida; three brothers, Patsy Acocella of Florida, Johnny Acocella of Staten Island, N.Y., and Joseph Acocella of New Jersey; and six grandchildren, Cory Smith, Joseph Satterfield, Matthew Smith, Daniel Smith, Nicholas Smith, and Chelsea Smith; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 641 S. State St., Dover. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice House, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
