Rothermel, 82
HARRINGTON, Del. - Maureen Joyce Hoffner Swain Merrill Rothermel died peacefully in her home on Monday, March 7, 2022, surrounded by her family. Maureen, also known to many as Mo, was born on October 3, 1939, in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late David T. & Dorothy P. Hoffner of Sandtown, Del. Mo has lived all over the state of Delaware, Maine & Florida but eventually coming back home and living out her final days in Harrington, Del.
She enjoyed many things in her life. She loved to garden and spend long days at the beach. She very much enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, crocheting and playing shuffleboard in her younger days. You could always depend on a sporting event to be on Mo's television. She loved watching Nascar, Golf, Tennis, College Basketball and Football. She loved her Gators! She spent many years as a produce truck broker, connecting shippers with carriers all up & down the east coast from Florida to Maine. She ultimately retired from a career in data collection for the University of North Carolina. Her biggest passion was her family. Her daughters and grandbabies were her whole world. She was her happiest when everyone could simply just be together. It didn't have to be a special occasion or a monumental moment. You knew, no matter what, that there would be lots of love and laughter.
Mo was a loving mother of four daughters. Sheri Ralph (Keith) of Harrington, Del., Vicki Sharpe of Harrington, Del., Kim Howard of VA Beach, Va. and Reenie Cramer (Turtle) of Harrington, Del. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knew her would know that her girls and her grandbabies were the stars in her eyes. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Brian Tapley (Salina), Mande Delano (Scott), Brady Howard (Tami), Ryan Cramer (April) and Danielle Cramer (Earl). Over the years came many great-grandchildren, Cannon, Sienna, Mark, Mason, Ethan, Landon, & Jordan. Mo worked hard but she loved even harder. She had a full life and treated everyone like family. No one was a stranger to Mo. She passed that on to each and everyone of us. The last several years of her life, she shared a home with her daughter Vicki who became her primary caregiver. Vicki devoted her life to make sure that her mother was well taken care of. She was preceded in death by her mother & father; and her sister, Barbara Ferwerda of FL. She is survived by her brother, David T. Hoffner III of FL; her four daughters, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way, & many nieces and nephews in Florida. She is missed and loved by so many.
We will gather privately to celebrate Mo's life.
