Matilda Catherine "Tillie" Morrow, 80
SMYRNA - Matilda Catherine "Tillie" Morrow of Smyrna died, having fought a long, brave battle with liver cancer, Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 80.
Ms. Morrow was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Rehoboth Beach, daughter of the late George Arthur and Margaret (Cuppett) Walls.
She married Sherman L. Morrow and moved to Smyrna in 1948. She worked as a telephone operator until the birth of her first child in 1949. When her children had all started school, she worked as a waitress at The County Line, and then, the Wagon Wheel Restaurant. She later worked at The Wayside Inn. She returned to work again at The Wagon Wheel, and retired from there in 2002.
Ms. Morrow enjoyed spending time with family, taking walks and doing Wonder Word puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Reba Lovegrove, Martha Jones and Sarah Wilson; a brother, Lester Walls; and her former husband.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Wayne and Mary Lou (Johnson) Morrow of Hagerstown, Md., and Bruce and Linda (Rice) Morrow, and Herb and Georgeanne (Moyer) Morrow, all of Rehoboth Beach; two daughters, Sharon "Sheri" Morrow and Alice Marie Riley, both of Smyrna; six grandchildren, Melanie Burgess of Harrington, Amber Morrow of Hagerstown, and Heather Morrow, Brandon Morrow, Jordon Morrow and Harley Morrow, all of Rehoboth Beach; two sisters, Pat Rodia and Myra Trimble, both of New Jersey; and two great-grandchildren, Gordon "B.J." Burgess III of Harrington and Ava Lyn of Rehoboth Beach.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier. Ms. Morrow requested a casual affair, so, please wear jeans and T-shirts (she will).
Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn.
Instead of flowers, Ms. Morrow and her family suggest memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Du Pont Highway, Dover DE 19901.
