HARRINGTON - Mary Lou Wright passed away at home on Friday, July 20, 2018. She was born to the late George and Ada Fithian.
Mary Lou was very devoted to her family. She enjoyed teasing her sister-in-law, Audrey; fishing with her husband, Al; taking care of her kids and spoiling her grandkids. Once her children got older, Mary Lou drove the Kent County Bookmobile. She also enjoyed working at the election polls on election day. A plain and simple loving person, Mary Lou never asked for anything or said a bad word about anyone. She enjoyed making crafts, especially Santas, and was a talented painter. Mary Lou served as the piano player at Prospect United Methodist Church for 41 years where she was a member and involved in many of the church's activities. Besides her devotion to her family, Mary Lou was close to her church family at Prospect and shared a special bond with her neighbors, Anna Mae and Alan Draper and also her caretaker, Susan Ullman, who she adored. She will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Albert L. Wright; son, William Wright; and sister, Audrey Printzenhoff.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Wright and Thomas (Thelma) Wright; sister-in-law, Audrey Wright; brother-in-law, Ray Wright (Val); six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at 1 p.m. A visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Prospect United Methodist Church, 5183 Vernon Rd., Harrington, DE 19952 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
