Mary E. "Betty" Perry, 77

DOVER - Mary E. "Betty" Perry of Dover died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 77.

Mrs. Perry was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Smyrna, daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Dempsey) Wright.

She retired in 1993 from the Delaware State Hospital Division of Economic Services where she worked as a secretary. After retiring she went back to work as a mail carrier for the state of Delaware for 13 years and was known as "Miss Betty."

Mrs. Perry enjoyed her many friends and family, as well as reading, visiting with friends, going to the shows, music and the arts.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Norma Rohleder of Harrington and Bobbi and Jerry McCabe of Salisbury, Md.; a brother, William B. Wright of Greenwood; a sister, Catherine Phillips of Dover; five grandchildren Michael Sevast, Kristin Bennett, Kimberly Gerardi and Staci Mills; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Elizabeth Murphy School, 42 Kings Highway East, Dover, DE 19901; the Ronald McDonald House, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803; or a charity of choice.
