SEAFORD - Martin Keith Smack, of Seaford, departed this life Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at home. He was 56.
Born in Milford on Aug. 4, 1951, he was the son of the late Martin and Louise Smack.
Martin, better known as "Marty," received his formal education at Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School and Woodbridge High School.
After high school, he went on to serve his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Martin was employed at Cut 'Em Up Tree Care as a construction worker.
He later became permanently disabled. During his time of illness, he rededicated his life to God.
Martin was a well-known dresser. He loved to dress in the finest of clothes. He was serious when it came down to it. He wanted to match from his hat down to his shoes with whatever he would wear. That's just the way he was.
His character and personality didn't change, because that was Martin. He wanted everything to be perfect and done the right way.
Martin was an outgoing person who loved to entertain people.
He leaves to cherish his memories three children, Martin Gantt of Kansas City, Mo., Martin Smack III of Seaford and Nioka Smack of Laurel; three sisters, Rosemary Brown and her husband Elmer of Seaford, Rosemarie Smack of Greenwood and Yolanda Smack of New Castle; a brother, Allison Lamont Smack and his wife Louise of Bridgeville; a favorite uncle, Herbert Lee Johnson and his wife Faith of Millsboro; a faithful and devoted cousin, Anna Rosie Smack, who was his primary caregiver during his illness; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Williams Chapel Church, North Cannon Street, Bridgeville, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Middleford Cemetery, Seaford.
Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Seaford.
