MILFORD - Marshall P. Fred Hurd of Milford died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at home, with his loving family by his side. He was 53.
He was born in Milford, son of Edith Hurd of Milford and the late Robert W. Hurd Sr.
Mr. Hurd worked for the Steiner Co. as a textile technician for over 21 years. He worked as a mechanic and grinder operator. After leaving Steiner, he worked at LD Caulk (Caulk Dentsply) for the past 13 years. Mr. Hurd enjoyed going to work and his coworkers became his extended family.
He was a member of the Milford Church of the Nazarene.
In his spare time, Mr. Hurd enjoyed fishing and was an avid deer hunter. Mr. Hurd loved the great outdoors, and was a wildlife conservationist. He had a great knowledge of animals and their habitats. Mr. Hurd also enjoyed playing his bass guitar and singing with the Hurd family.
He was a great family man, and was very family oriented.
To know him was to love him, because you knew he loved you.
Mr. Hurd loved to tell stories and was a great teaser and practical jokester.
He was an overall good person who lived life to the fullest and never turned his back to anybody.
Mr. Hurd will be greatly missed by his close family, church family, coworkers and numerous friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandy Williams and Mary Beth Hurd.
In addition to mother, Mr. Hurd is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sallie O. Hurd of Milford; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert W. and Amanda Hurd Jr., Lonny and Vivian Hurd, Joey and Lynn Hurd, and Bryan and Tracy Hurd, all of Milford; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine Hurd of Milford, Beverly Jean and Tony Lindale of Greenwood, and Loretta and Joe Muller of Milford; his mother-in-law, Mildred Owens of Ellendale; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; 10 nephews; 10 nieces; six great-nephews; and five great-nieces.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Milford Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington.
