SEAFORD - Marlette Huey Booke, of Seaford, formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the Methodist Manor House, Seaford. She was 88. Marlette was born in Denton, Md., daughter of the late Clarence A. and Edna (Kirkpatrick) Huey. She graduated from Lewes High School (Class of '41) and Goldey College (now known as Goldey-Beacom) in Wilmington. Marlette was an Executive Secretary with Dupont Co., in Wilmington for 18 years. After retirement, she moved with her husband, Max, to Miami, Fla., where they became very involved in the bowling industry. The Booke's owned and operated University Bowl in Boca Raton, Fla., until their retirement. After retiring, they moved to Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., and later to the Greater Jacksonville area, where her husband passed away in 2010. They did spend a few years in the Lewes area during the mid to late nineties, but decided to return to warmer weather. Marlette is survived by a step daughter, Bonnie Rouche-Bronfman of New York, New York; a sister-in-law, June Huey of Houston, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Shores Club, 1 Heritage Shores Circle, Bridgeville. A private family interment at Woodlawn Cemetery is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Contributions, in Marlette's memory, can be made to your local Habitat for Humanity. Arrangements in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
