TOWNSEND - Mark G. Barcus, of Townsend, passed away at home on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012. He was 50. He was born in Dover, the son of Raymond A. Barcus Sr., of Townsend, and the late Jean Barcus. Mark was a 1979 graduate of Middletown High School, and had been employed for many years with the DE Division of Motor Vehicles and with DEL DOT. He enjoyed reading, gardening and the outdoors, watching the Simpsons on TV, as well as playing with his dog Odie. He was a social member of Townsend Fire Co. In addition to his father, he is survived by three siblings, Penny (Dennis) Gentry of Little Creek, Raymond A. (Gayle) Barcus Jr. of Townsend, and Wayne (Susan) Barcus of Clayton; four nieces and nephews, Daniel and Michelle Gentry, Heather Barcus, and Stacy Yeatman; and five great-nieces and nephews, Julianna, Ryan, Kayleigh, and Brayden Gentry, and Thomas Yeatman. Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 29, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Townsend Fire Co., PO Box 194, Townsend, DE 19734. To send a condolence, visit www.matthewsbryson.com.
