Marjorie C. Wicks

GALENA - Marjorie C. Wicks, died Dec. 8, 2012 in Sunrise Senior Living in Wilmington, Del. Mrs. Wicks was born on June 15, 1910 in Hempstead, N.Y, daughter of the late Frederick and Ida Calcagnino Wieners, Jr. Marjorie worked for the New York Water Service in Merrick Long Island until her marriage in 1935, when she and her husband began farming in Melville, Long Island. They moved to Galena in 1954, where they owned a vegetable and grain farm. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chestertown, the Chesterville Homemakers, serving as treasurer for 40 years, Kent County Farm Bureau, Chesterville Farm Bureau Planning Group and assisted with the Galena Lions Club functions. Mrs. Wicks was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Paul W. Wicks in 1979 and a brother, Robert F. Wieners. She is survived by her children, Richard F. Wicks (Carol) of Fredericktown, Md., and Carol A. Maffett (Sidney) of Wilmington, Del; five grandchildren, DeeAnn M. Wicks, Dean T. Lowman, Ronda Bolinger, Karen Wicks-Biggs and Marcia Mabry; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at noon in Trinity Lutheran Church, 101 Greenwood Ave. Chestertown, MD, where friends may call after 11 am. Burial in Galena Cemetery, Galena, Md.
