MILLSBORO - Mrs. Marilee Miller Backus, born January 13, 1928 in West Virginia, wife of Rev. Dr. Arthur Backus, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 as peacefully and quietly as she lived her life.
She was the daughter of John and Bertha Miller and is survived by her husband and four children, Howard, Harold, Steven and Janice, their spouses, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Everyone who knew Marilee loved her quiet, soft-spoken and cheerful manner. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church. She devoted and dedicated her life to her family and supporting her husband's ministry.
Viewing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Zoar United Methodist Church, 24463 Gravel Hill Road, Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may visit with the family and pay their respects from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Flowers are welcome or donations in Marilee's memory can be made to Zoar United Methodist Church, c/o Carissa Pepper, 24491 Gravel Hill Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
