Margaret M. Bailey

MIDDLETOWN - Margaret M. Bailey, formerly of Hartly, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016. Mrs. Bailey was born March 27, 1924 in Wilmington, to the late Marion T. Forrest and Margaret M. Beattie Forrest. She worked for Sun Transport (Sun Oil) in shipping and retired in 1979 as an accountant in charge of finance. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Modern Maturity Center for over 40 years, as well as the Ed Salmon String Band in Hudson, Fla., the Grandpa Jammers and the Great Wilmington String Band. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #8801 in Clayton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Paul and Francis Forrest. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Clarence E. Bailey, of Middletown; son, Jim Bailey and wife, Dorothy, of Bear; daughter, Lynda Bailey, of Middletown; grandchildren, Andrea, Arthur, Edwin and Laurie; great-grandchildren, Kaliyah, Alexis, David and Bridget. Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forest Avenue, Dover, DE 19904.
