Margaret E. Brittingham

Margaret E. Brittingham, 74 MILFORD - Margaret E. Brittingham, of Milford, passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at home surrounded by her family. She was 74. Margaret was born on Aug. 5, 1935, in Milford, daughter of the late Charles C. and Cora (Dehner) Case. Mrs. Brittingham was an insurance agent for 36 years first employed with William Wells, then James Downham and lastly with the Marvel Agency from where she retired in 1995. She loved cats and enjoyed her regular work outs at Curves. Margaret was a member of the National Association of Insurance Women and the National Humane Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Emily Cassese, Dorothy Harrison, and Esther Desmond. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Brittingham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carol Brittingham of Milford, and Robert and Alice Brittingham of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Chris Plack of Frederica; a sister, Harriett Purnell of Wyoming; five grandchildren, Andrea Guajardo, C.J. Plack, Jr., Michael Brittingham II, Staci Brittingham, and Wendy LeGates; and three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Aidan, and Owen. A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m., today, Dec. 17, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Avenue, Milford, where friends may greet the family two hours prior. Interment will be held in the Slaughter Neck Cemetery, Argo's Corner, Milford. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Humane Society of the U.S., 2100 L Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037; or to Delaware Hospice, Lotus Plaza, 911 S.
