Margaret E. Breasure, 82
GEORGETOWN, DE - Margaret E. Breasure passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. She was born on July 13,1940, daughter of the late John Ward and Effie M. (Short) Breasure.
Peggy graduated from Georgetown High School and continued her studies obtaining a RN Degree in nursing at Wilmington Memorial Hospital. She proudly served in the US Air Force as a clinical nurse for 11 years and then as a primary care nurse practitioner for 9 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel after 22 dedicated years.
During her active service, Peggy was stationed in Spain, Japan, Virginia, Oklahoma, Ohio, and Dover Air Force Base. She was one of the first graduating class of nurse practitioners the Air Force conducted, and she was also on the cover of RN Magazine. After Peggy retired, she continued working as a nurse at West Minister Village in Dover and was the director of nursing at Dover Nursing Center. Above all, Peggy treasured time spent with those who meant the most to her. She was a loving sister, and friend. Loved by many, she will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her sister, Sara E. Breasure; her brother-in-law, Daniel G. Herrick; and her beloved dogs, Sally, Sheba, Kyrie, and Goldie. She is survived by her sisters: Joyce Breasure-Herrick of Camden, DE, and Joan Breasure of Georgetown, DE; her aunts: Helen Beasley of Langhorne, PA, and Doris Walls of Seaford, DE; and a host of cousins and great neighbors.
Funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 North Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE, where a viewing will begin at 1 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Union Cemetery, Adams and Race Street, Georgetown, DE.
At the family's request, casual attire is preferred.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Peggy's memory to Brandywine Valley SPCA, 22918 Dupont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947, or the Cheer Center, 20520 Sand Hill Rd, Georgetown, DE 19947.
