FRANKFORD - Lorraine W. Steen, of Frankford, Quinby, Va., and St. James City, Fla., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at her home in Frankford. She was 67.
She was born in Frankford on June 27, 1940, daughter to Margaret (Banks) West and the late Edwin West.
Mrs. Steen was a retired registered nurse.
She spent her winters in Pine Island, Fla., where she was the choir director and an active member of the First Baptist Church of St. James City.
Mrs. Steen spent her summers on the Eastern Shore of Virginia at her home in Virginia Landing, where she had many dear friends.
Mrs. Steen was also an organist and pianist at St. George's United Methodist Church in Clarksville from the time she was 15 until she moved to Florida.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William V. Steen III.
She is survived by her mother, Margaret West; two sons, William V. Steen IV and his wife Sandra of Mesa, Ariz., and Todd E. Steen and his wife Lisa of Huntersville, N.C.; her brother, Richard E. West and his wife Sonya; grandchildren Sarah E. Steen, Richard C. Steen, Kelsey N. Steen and Kennedy B. Steen; a great-granddaughter, Marlo A. Steen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Ocean View chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View, where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947; or St. George's United Methodist Church Elevator Fund, 34281 Omar Road, Frankford, DE 19945.
