Lorene Scarborough

DOVER - Lorene Scarborough, of Dover, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 90. Mrs. Scarborough was born June 29, 1920, in Skelton, W.Va., to the late James William Smith and Lillie Maud Foley Smith. During WWII she worked at the Triumph Explosive Company in Elkton, Md. She worked as the manager for the S&H Green Stamp store until its closing. She also worked at Sears downtown Dover and Scarborough Hatchery in Milford. Mrs. Scarborough was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed doing craft projects as a member of the Senior Center in Harrington. Mrs. Scarborough was an active volunteer at the Same Day Surgery Unit at Bayhealth, Kent General Hospital until her death. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Carl R. Scarborough, 1994, and was the last of eleven siblings. She is survived by her son, Duane Scarborough and his wife Sue of Stroudsburg, Pa.; and grandchild, Kris Scarborough. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m., Monday evening. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. Letters of Condolence may be sent and guest books signed at www.torbertfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Lorene to a charity or church of your choice.
