Lorene H. Hamby SMYRNA - Lorene H. Hamby, 84, of Smyrna, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. Born on March 26, 1926 in Elizabethton, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Rebecca (Wilcox) Brummitt. Lorene loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and baking for the holidays, especially potato rolls, macaroni and cheese and banana pudding. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens and canning. For many years, Lorene worked at her sister's restaurant in Middletown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Hamby, Sr.; a daughter, Caroline "Sue" Tomasetti; a grandson, Tegan; sisters, Martha Allen, Beatrice "Bea" Roberts, Frances B. Roberts and Billie B. Hamby and a brother, George Brummitt. She leaves many wonderful memories to a daughter, Wanda Campbell and her husband, Bill, of Smyrna; two sons, JR Hamby, Jr. of Smyrna and Richard L. Hamby and his wife, Carolyn, of Townsend; a brother, Kenneth Brummitt of Elizabethton, TN; a son-in-law, Mark Tomasetti; a brother-in-law, Willard Hamby of Middletown; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may visit from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, June 28 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, DE. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 30 at Monte Vista Memorial Gardens in Johnson City, TN. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
