GEORGETOWN - Lola E. Rogers, lifelong resident of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Lola was born in Georgetown, daughter of the late William Alfred and Marie (Oliphant) Callaway. She was a self-employed cosmetologist for 46 years, retiring in 1992. Lola was a member of Grace U.M. Church, where she enjoyed listening to the sounds of the No Name Band. Her memberships also included the Georgetown Historical Society, Harrington Moose Lodge and Georgetown Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She loved playing cards and enjoyed all sports, including NASCAR, with Rusty Wallace as her favorite driver. In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert D. Rogers Sr.; a daughter, Karen Hensler; and sister, Dorothy Bryan, preceded her in death. Lola is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. Jr., and Penny Rogers; three grandchildren, Robert D., III and his wife Kim, Mark and his wife Kristy, and Stacie Rogers; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Troy, and Robbie Rogers; a great-granddaughter, Haley Rogers; a brother, James Callaway; and two sisters, Louise Harris and husband Ted and Aleine Drandorff. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at Grace U.M. Church, 7 S. King Street, Georgetown. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, it was Lola's request to have contributions be made to Grace U.M. Church, 7 S. King Street, Georgetown, DE 19947 or Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
