SMYRNA - Lois A. Weed, of Smyrna, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 55.
Miss Weed was born Aug. 20, 1952, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Lavoura M. Akin, who passed away in 1996.
She was a Class of 1970 graduate of John Bassett Moore High School in Smyrna and graduated from the Milford School of Nursing with her RN in 1973.
She worked for the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna for 29 and a half years as a registered nurse and a supervisor.
Miss Weed loved traveling, the beaches, lighthouses and her dog, Rose.
She is survived by her sister, Lavoura Cahall and her husband Ralph Cahall Sr. of Smyrna; her special friend, Melody Richards; her special pet, Rose; several aunts and uncles; some very special cousins and friends; and her second family from Pennsylvania.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.
Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Smyrna.
Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium, Smyrna.
