Lloyd Sidney Kent, 91
DOVER - Lloyd Sidney Kent, of Dover, passed away at his home Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009. He was 91. Mr. Kent was born June 17, 1918, in Mackey, Idaho, to the late Sidney Herbert Kent and Myrtle McClellan Kent. After being employed with the
C.C.Camps in 1937 he then joined the United States Navy in 1938 serving until 1945. Mr. Kent served eight years in the Pacific Theater both before World War II and throughout the war. He met the love of his life Pauline Thomas in 1944 in Washington, D.C., where they were also married in 1946. Mr. Kent was manager and owner of the Virginia Spring and Alignment in Arlington, Va., until his retirement in 1980, when he moved to Dover. He enjoyed golf, fishing, playing backgammon and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Melba Lesnau. Mr. Kent is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pauline "Pat" Kent of Dover; his daughter, Gail Benson and her husband Dr. Brian Benson of Dover; his son, Richard Kent and his wife Darlene of Winchester, Va.; eight grandchildren, Dr. Brian Benson and his wife Trina, Brad Benson and his wife Jennifer, Jeff and Christopher Benson, Katherine, Steven, David and Johnny Kent; and four great-grandchildren, Wesley, Maddox, Lila and Kate Benson. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
