Lionel Eric Simms
Lionel Eric Simms, was born in Greenwood, DE on December 21, 1946 to the late Morris L. Simms Sr., and his mother Norma E. (Higgins) Simms. He unexpectedly lost his life on September 24, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Michael and Morris Simms Jr.; and his sisters, Sherri Malone Simms, and Lori A. Watson.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of 49 years, Deborah D. Simms; his son, Colin C. Simms; and daughter, Brean B. Simms; and grandson, Nyjah A. Kenerson. Also grieving his death are his brothers, Richard G. Simms, Keith O. Simms and David L. Simms; and sister, Schindel Barricks. All of his sister-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews will miss him dearly.
Lionel was a kind and gentle person who loved his God Jehovah and his family with his whole being. He was a great husband and father. He provided for his family by his activities as a barber, horticulturist, and retired from the state of Delaware as a certified nursing assistant. He enjoyed all types of gardening and spending time in nature. He was quick to offer his assistance to those in need. One of his many hobbies was tinkering to see if he could repair whatever was broken. He had a big heart and loved conversing with people no matter the age. His compassion for people always made them feel cared for.
Rest dear Lionel in Jehovah's memory. It won't be long before we see your gentle smile and feel your warm embrace when Jesus sounds his call.
Memorial Service Saturday, October 15, 2022, 3 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Elm Street, Smyrna, DE, 19977.
