GEORGETOWN - Linden P. Mitchell passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Linden was born and raised in Georgetown, son of the late Glenn and Naomi (Pettyjohn) Mitchell. For the past six years he resided at Brandywine Senior Living in Fenwick, Island. Linden worked for George and Lynch, Inc., in the construction industry, in many different capacities, for many years. For a short time, several years ago, he worked for the Dupont Company in Seaford. Linden served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968 and received an honorable discharge with the rank of SP4. His memberships included: Lifetime member of Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company Station 77, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #646 , American Legion Post # 8 , as well as, The Improved Order of Redmen Nanticoke Tribe #21. In addition to his parents, Linden was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry. He is survived by a sister, Glenda Mitchell; a brother, Wayne A. Mitchell, Sr., and wife Sumi; aunt, Florence Adams; niece, Theresa Mitchell; nephew, Wayne A. Mitchell, Jr.; great-nephew, Wayne A. Mitchell, III; several cousins and extended family; as well as his caregivers at Brandywine whom he considered family. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, with visitation after 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Georgetown Fire Company, PO Box 77, Georgetown, Del 19947 or the charity of your choice.
