Leticia (Paras) Buan, 60

DOVER - Leticia (Paras) Buan of Dover passed into the arms of the angels Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, in Angeles City, Philippines, her native homeland. She was 60.

Mrs. Buan was born and raised in the Philippines, daughter of the late Melchor and Maria (Manliwat) Paras. She immigrated to the United States in 1991.

She had a passion for preparing authentic and traditional Filipino cuisine for her family and friends.

Mrs. Buan accomplished her lifelong dream of becoming a citizen of the United States on Nov. 2, 2006, under the guidance of Robin Case of the Office of Service for Foreign Born, and with the assistance of Sen. Joe Biden and his staff.

She is survived by her husband, Azor Buan of Angeles City; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Danilo and Lourdes Buan of Angeles City, Ronnie Buan, Edgar and Regina Buan and Roberto and Florita Buan, all of Dover; two daughters and a son-in-law, Merlin and Elvin Brown and Janet Buan, all of Dover; three grandchildren, Bryan Miles Brown, Jules Nikko Buan and Jade Nadine Buan; four brothers, Domingo Paras, George Paras, Ponciano Paras and Ricardo Paras, all of Dover; two sisters, Mila Paras and Nelia Paras, both of Angeles City; and her dearest friends, Maria A.V. and Gerald Coleman of Dover.

Mass of Christian burial and internment will be Saturday in Angeles City.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
