Leona Marie Rusanowsky

CAMDEN - Leona Marie Rusanowsky, of Camden, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at her daughter's home. She was 87. Mrs. Rusanowsky was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Mildred, Pa., to the late Andrew Tabaka and Mary Rose Novenski Tabaka. During WWII, she was an ammunition inspector for Remington Arms. She received a BA from DSU in 1976. She was a substitute teacher for several schools in the area for about 30 years. Mrs. Rusanowsky enjoyed working with kids doing arts and crafts with the Boy Scouts of America Delmarva Council, where the scout's lovingly nicknamed her "Mother Nature", the 4-H clubs and Camden/ Wyoming Moose Lodge. Mrs. Rusanowsky enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts, and especially loved playing with her great-granddaughter, Kaylee. She was a member of the Camden/ Wyoming Moose Lodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Peter P. Rusanowsky Sr. in 2004; her brothers, Johnny and Stan Tabaka; sisters, Terry Kortuz, Stephie Boback, and Stella Wrobelski. She is survived by her daughter, Maryann Pielmeier and her husband Robert Sr. of Camden/Wyoming; sons, Peter P. Rusanowsky and his wife Jean of Hazelton, Pa., and Daniel P. Rusanowsky of Camden; brother, Eddie Tabaka of Philippines; sisters, Frannie Fetchko of Kingston, Pa., and Sally Ciprich of Plains, Pa.; grandchildren, Robert J., Mark A. and Jennifer L. Rusanowsky, Rachel A., Hannah M., Rebecca D. Rusanowsky and Robert Pielmeier, Jr.; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Boy Scouts of America Del-Mar-Va Council, Inc., 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 915, Wilmington, DE 19801.
