Lawrence C. Tucker Jr., 62

GREENWOOD - Lawrence C. Tucker Jr. of Greenwood passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, in Life Care at Lofland Park, Seaford. He was 62.

Mr. Tucker was born April 16, 1944, in Baltimore, son of the late Lawrence C. and Vivian (Sacker) Tucker.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 3rd Special Forces during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Tucker was employed for many years as a heavy equipment operator with various construction companies in Delaware.

He and his father shared a love for stock cars and raced their No. 15 car at the tracks in Little Lincoln, the Georgetown Speedway and Delmar, where they won a championship in the 80s.

Mr. Tucker was a member of St. Johnstown United Methodist Church in Greenwood. He was also a member of the Milford Diner morning coffee club.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane J. Tucker; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Lawrence C. "Butch" III and Jenn Tucker of Staytonville and Gregory C. and Dawn Tucker of Greenwood; a brother and a sister-in-law, James and Sara Tucker of Milford; an uncle and his wife, Donald and Mickey Sacker of Washington; an aunt, Helen Reynolds of Houston; three grandchildren, Holly, Colby and Jacob; and another faithful companion, his dog Tequilla.

Private graveside services with military honors were Monday in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, Georgetown Professional Park, Suite 107, 600 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE, 19947.
