Larry Neil Johnson, 67
HARRINGTON - Larry Neil Johnson passed away in his home in Harrington, Delaware, on November 9, 2021. His passing was unexpected, yet peaceful as he fell asleep for the last time here on earth and woke up in Heaven.
Larry was born September 30, 1954, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Robert and Louise Johnson. After attending high school, Larry furthered his education at Baptist Bible College and graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
In his younger years, Larry loved singing and playing his twelve-string guitar. He loved ministering to others in the Lord through his music.
Larry loved the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, spying bullfrogs and taking walks with his dog, Dora. He loved coffee dates with friends and family. He will be most remembered for his epic waterfall and gorgeous flower beds that he built for his wife, Joan.
Larry was a hard worker. Even after surviving a stroke, he showed great ingenuity proving that even a one-handed man could do amazing things if he had the will to do it.
Larry is greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Joan Johnson; four children, David Neil Johnson, Laura Rachel Gutshall (Ezekiel), Curtis Michael Johnson (Danielle) and Christopher Allen Johnson (Ebonee); four grandchildren, Giovanni, Alyss, Harrison, and Rick; four brothers, Bobby, Jackie, Johnny, and Clint; sister-in-law, Patricia Lilly (Larry); many cousins, nephews, and nieces; and his dog, Dora.
A celebration of his life will be held at First Baptist Church of Milford, 6062 Old Shawnee Rd., Milford, on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 6 p.m., with visitation beginning at 5 p.m.
Arrangements in the care of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
