Kimiko 'Kim' Lauer, 73
DOVER - Kimiko "Kim" Lauer, of Dover, died Saturday, March 1, 2008. She was 73.
Mrs. Lauer was born March 29, 1934, in Fukushima-Ken, Japan, and married Robert J. Lauer of Creston, Iowa, in May 1955.
She was a devoted wife, providing loving support for her husband through his 20 years of service with the U.S. Air Force and his 25 years of employment with Playtex Apparel, Dover.
Mrs. Lauer enjoyed flower gardening in her yard and was an enthusiast of potted houseplants.
She enjoyed hand crafting and attended many local craft shows to sell her wares.
She was a 31-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Walter L. Fox Post 2, Dover.
Mrs. Lauer was also awarded a life membership for distinguished service in the Cabane of 244 La Societe De Femme, Dover. She was a member of the Dover Modern Maturity Center.
Mrs. Lauer was preceded in death by her husband, Robert John "Bob" Lauer, in December 2003; and her parents, Yone Munekata Horikoshi and Keijiro Horikoshi of Japan.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Margery J. and Eugene "Chip" Rosan Jr. of Dover and Susan K. and John Hopple of Blackbird, S.D.; four sons and four daughters-in-law, John T. and Cheryl Lauer of Magnolia, Donald J. and Melissa Lauer of Lincoln, Steven L. and Melva Lauer of Atlanta, Ga., and Russel D. and Kristen of Arlington, Texas; three sisters, Hisato, Yumiko and Michiko, all of Japan; 17 grandchildren, Michael R. Rosan and his wife Shanna, Christopher J. Rosan and his wife Erin, John Lauer Jr., Eric Lauer, Nichole Lauer, Mathew Lauer, Jennifer Lauer, Kimber Herberth, Amber Cross and her husband Kenneth, Amy Lauer, Christopher Vaughn and his wife Mellissa, Lynda Hopple, David Hopple, Isabella Lauer, Audrey Lauer and Kira Lauer; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
