Kenneth D.
Gourley, Sr., 63
Kenneth D. Gourley, Sr., passed away at home surrounded by the family he loved dearly, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Mr. Gourley was born in Dover to the late, David E. "Duckie" and Margaret Gourley.
Mr. Gourley worked as a painter most of his life. He worked for Nanticoke Homes many years ago, and after Nanticoke Homes, he worked 14 years for Nu Look before becoming self employed.
One of the passions in his life was fishing. He was an avid fisherman who was the happiest when he was on the water in his boat. When he was not on the water, he enjoyed being with family, and taking rides in the car, always driving somewhere which led to water. Another favorite activity was singing karaoke and spending time at the Harrington Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed volunteering and loved to volunteer at the American Legion working in the food truck. Spending time at the beach and watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon were also things he liked to do.
Mr. Gourley will be remembered as always having a sense of humor, being a jokester, and making people laugh. He was always at the center of it all, loved bringing people together, the bigger the crowd the better he loved it. He was indeed a people person who never met a stranger. One of his mottos was, "spare no expense", and he loved to spend money on others. His life, laugh, caring nature, and love for family, will forever be missed.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie Gourley; and a sister, Wanda Fris.
He is survived by a son, Kenny D. Gourley, Jr.; his companion, Sharon Jones and her children who were like his own, James Jones, Deborah Jones; brother, Dennis Gourley; sister, Janet Shaw; grandchildren, Alex Jones, Nolan Jones, Bayleigh Jones.
