Joyce Lorraine Smith

Joyce Lorraine Smith, 78 GREENWOOD - Joyce Lorraine Smith, of Greenwood, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. She was 78. Joyce was born near Williamsburg, Md., on Sept. 13, 1931, to the late Grover and Elsie Corkran. She worked for Continental Can Co. in Hurlock, Md., for 30 years. Joyce was a member of St. Johnstown UMC in Greenwood and a member of the Shanty Shakers Motor Home Club. She would often volunteer to work for the VFW Post at the Greenwood BBQ, and she delivered meals for the Greenwood Cheer Center for 15 years. She was a generous person to everybody, especially her family. She enjoyed gardening in her flowers, watching the humming birds, going fishing, watching Dale Jr. on NASCAR, and sewing making decorative shirts. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motor home, and traveling overseas on numerous trips with her daughter. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Calvin D. Smith; a daughter, Joyce; and a sister, Judy. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. A Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Johnstown UMC, Greenwood. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.
