Joyce Burris Scuse

SMYRNA - Joyce Burris Scuse passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018.
Mrs. Scuse was born on March 25, 1935, the second of ten children of the late Albert and Beatrice Burris.
She was a graduate of John Bassett Moore High School, class of 1953.
In her younger years, Joyce was an avid tennis player. She also enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. Joyce was active in the Delaware Democratic Party and was a past board member for the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially around the Christmas season and summers together by the pool.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Clarence T. Scuse, Jr.; her son, Wayne L. Scuse; her siblings, Lewes Burris, Jane Ware, and Douglas Burris; and her daughter-in-law, Vicky Scuse.
Joyce is survived by her children, Michael T. Scuse and his wife Patrice of Smyrna, Dale R. Scuse and his companion Effie Beachy of Smyrna, and Robin Hamburg and her husband Richard of Smyrna; her grandchildren, Kevin Scuse, Darryl Scuse, Holly Hufford, Ashley Nash, Christopher Scuse, Connor Hamburg, and Jamie Sharp; her great grandchildren, Brandon and Kaitlyn Scuse, Riley and Reagan Hufford, Brinley Nash, Kaylee and Brayden Sharp, Carter, Cara, and Carson Scuse. She is also survived by her siblings, Jack Burris, James Burris, Janice Thomas, Dewey Burris, Albert Burris, and Sherry Savage.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite # 205, New Castle, DE 19720 or to The Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market St., Suite #102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
