Joseph A. Arcidiacono, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2018.
Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Assunta and parents, Orazio and Rose. As a long-time resident of New Castle, Archie became a lifetime member of Goodwill Fire Company in 1953, where proudly served his community until relocating to Georgetown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and most recently, served in the Air National Guard.
Joe's love and passion for life was evident in everything he did. From adoring his granddaughters to Big Game hunting across the U.S and Canada, he lived life to the fullest. Once you met Joe, you had a friend for life.
Joe was preceded in death by many loved ones, including his wife, Beverly; and later on in life, his very special friend, Viriginia Kalomeres; brothers, Salvatore and Anglo. Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Joseph and his wife, Diane; daughter, Rose Marie Iezzi and her husband, Thomas; granddaughters, Julia Arcidiacono and Adrienne Eckhardt; as well as brothers, Orazio Jr. and Louis. He also leaves a cherished group of friends and family from New Castle, as well as Georgetown.
The family would like to thank those at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and Vitas Hospice Care for their unwavering support during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE 19720, where a Funeral Service will begin at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Goodwill Fire Company, 401 South Street, New Castle, DE 19720.
