SMYRNA - John W. Sapp, of Smyrna, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, May 8, 2008, with his loving wife by his side. He was 69.
Born on Sept. 26, 1938, in Wilmington, he was the son of the late William John and Ida (Crossland) Sapp.
Mr. Sapp worked in various Acme markets throughout Delaware as the dairy manager for 25 years.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and taking trips with his wife to the Grand Ole Opry.
He was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed listening to country and western music.
Mr. Sapp loved family gatherings and especially enjoyed spending time with his two adorable granddaughters, Stephanie and Casey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Natalie Hopkins.
He leaves many wonderful memories to his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy; a son, John W. Sapp III; a daughter, Amy Dawson; two adoring granddaughters, Stephanie and Casey Dawson, all of Smyrna; a brother, James Sapp of Elkton, Md.; and a very special companion, Minnie, his miniature pinscher.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to service.
Interment will follow in St. Georges Cemetery, St. Georges.
