John Samuel Ford, born on March 26, 1991, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on January 18, 2025. In his short lifetime he made lasting memories with his family and many, many friends.
John was a graduate of the Smyrna High School but in truth he proved to be a scholar of the area honey hole fishing spots, the duck blinds, goose pits and deer stands that he loved so much. Those who knew John will attest that he loved to hunt and fish yet was forced to work to afford his beloved hobbies. John was a proud member of the Fire Sprinkler Fitters Union, #669. His commitment and dedication to the Oliver Fire Protection and Security Company earned him the responsibility of being named a foreman as well as the trust and confidence from his crew members.
John is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jack Ford. John was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Brian. John leaves a large and loving family. His wife Heather and adorable daughter River Fawn. Heather and River were the centerpiece of John’s life and the apple of his eye. He cherished many nicknames and titles in his lifetime but husband and daddy were his favorite. His Mother, Tammy Wagner and
husband Joel. His father, Jeff and wife Vicki. Sister, Jamie Melson, and her husband Scott. John’s cherished nieces and nephews Ava, Blake, Bentlee and Rylee Melson. John’s maternal grandparents are Samuel and Diane Mitchell. His Paternal grandmother is Rose Marie Ford. Mother in law Patricia Bone and her partner Roy O’Neal. Father in law Michael J. Bone and his wife Linda. Sister-in-law Kristy Huff and her husband Michael, nephews Finley and Abel and Brother in law Michael E. Bone and wife Randi.
John’s living credo was to work hard and play hard (or perhaps play harder). His endearing smile, his “go to a brother” approachability and fun loving attitude rewarded him with a boundless number of friends--the vast
majority of these friends are accepted and treated more like family. Though it would be impossible to compile a complete list of his friends, it goes without saying that John’s constant companions Bandit and Mojo certainly held a special place in his heart.
Though we may lose the ability to hug him … he will forever be in our hearts. As we choose to say, he’s not gone - just gone fishing where the warm breeze always flows and the next big bite is just a few seconds away or in his favorite deer stand watching the buck of his dreams walking slowly toward him.
A visitation will be held at Faries Funeral Home, 29 S. Main Street, Smyrna DE 19977 on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1 pm to 3 pm. Services will begin at 3 pm, followed by burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna, DE. Friends and family are encouraged to dress country comfortable with camouflaged print absolutely acceptable.
In lieu of flowers, Heather is welcoming contributions to a college fund for Daddy’s Little River Girl. Donations may be made to the River Fawn Ford Fund, PO Box 265, Smyrna, DE 19977.
