John R. Burrows, 67

MILLSBORO - John R. Burrows of Millsboro died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 67.

Mr. Burrows was born in Wilmington, son of the late Clarence and Susie (Beeson) Burrows.

He relocated to Sussex County with his wife in 2001 from Wilmington.

Mr. Burrows was a member of the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Rehoboth Beach, the AmVets Post 2, the Elks Club and the Indian River Yacht Club.

Mr. Burrows had been a former drag racer up and down the East Coast.

He had served in the National Guard with a rank of Sgt. E-5.

Mr. Burrows had been employed in sales for Shallcross Chevrolet (Nucar), Middletown.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty Lou (Chapman) Burrows; a son, John F. Burrows of Wilmington; a sister, Susanna E. (Burrows) Brooks of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Tessa Marie Pearson and Bryianna Pearson; and a niece Stephanie Dickson of Wilmington.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call two hours prior.

Pastor Larry Wanaselja will officiate.

Interment will be 10 a.m. Friday in Chester Bethel United Methodist Cemetery, 2619 Foulk Road, Wilmington.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Wilmington, DE; or to New Covenant Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 19331 Lighthouse Plaza, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
