SMYRNA - John P. Ford passed away peacefully on August 16, 2021.
He was born in Somerville, Mass. on September 7, 1934, and was a longtime resident of Smyrna.
John worked as an accountant for many years. He enjoyed watching his hometown teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, traveling and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his children, Linda A. Ford (Kenneth Newberg) of Smyrna, Del., Karen M. Overbey of Salisbury, Md., Laura J. Zern (Rusty) of Smyrna, Del., Cheryl M. Pryor (Mike) of Smyrna, Del., Neil Ford (Tina) of Felton, Del., Jerald Ford of Smyrna, Del., Michael Ford of Camden Wyoming, Del.; 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Helen T. Scanlon of Somerville, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara A. Ford; his father, John P. Ford Sr.; his mother, Marion E. Ford; sisters, Dolly McGlinchey and Marion Mahoney; granddaughters, Barbara L. Ford and Ashley M. Ford; and grandsons, Matthew S. Prettyman and Shawn G. Miller.
