DOVER - John Melvin Grampp passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Bay Health, Kent Campus. He was born in Dover, Delaware, the son of Christian and Catherine Grampp.

He enjoyed crabbing and fishing – truly hard work. He was known as "Captain Johnny" or "Johnny G" by his friends. After retiring from the water, he enjoyed his garden and fruit trees, and his small flock of chickens.

He leaves behind one nephew, Andrew; and six nieces, including his special nieces, Susan Purr and Meredith Abbate; as well as his much-loved great niece, Elizabeth Abbate, of Dover. He is also survived by many wonderful friends including best friend, Gary Coleman.
In addition to his parents; John was predeceased by his brother, George Grampp.
John was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Smyrna, as well as the NRA and several watermen's associations.
