GEORGETOWN - John H. Lowe, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at home. John worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver for Playtex, retiring in 1993. He made many lasting friendships during those years with other drivers near and far and maintained contact with them even after retirement. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Korean War Era. John was a member of McColley's Chapel U.M. Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing Bingo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle (Marker) Lowe; his parents, John Wesley and Edna Elizabeth (Ellis) Lowe and three siblings, Wilmer and Dave Mitchell and Helen Fleetwood. He is survived by five children and their spouses: Gary and Bonnie Morris, of Lincoln, Ken and Gail Morris, of Pensacola, Fla, Debbie and Frank Smith, of Harbeson, Brenda and Jim Grulke, of Lawrenceville, GA, Pam and Brian Pratt, of Jacksonville, Fla; 14 grandchildren, Carolyn Neal, Michael, Chris and Kevin Morris, Melissa Johnson, Michelle Whaley, Marcy Wilson, Shannon and Emily Grulke, Amanda Redden, John Aiken, Kristin Mathews, Stephanie and Allison Pratt, 13 great-grandchildren; his companion, Patricia Payne; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family that were special to him. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown with visitation after 11:00am. Burial will be in McColley's Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to McColley's Chapel Cemetery, c/o Sally Griffith, 18317 McColley's Chapel Road, Georgetown, Del 19947 or American Legion Post #8 Ambulance Fund, 406 N. Front Street, Georgetown, Del 19947.
