John E. 'Ebby' Lewis Sr., 81
DOVER - John E. "Ebby" Lewis Sr. of Dover passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, in Silver Lake Nursing Center, Dover. He was 81.
He was born on Aug. 17, 1926, in Newark, to the late Conrad and Arzie Phillips Lewis Sr.
Mr. Lewis was a custom home builder in DeLand, Fla., for 35 years, also serving as president of the Home Builders Association.
He was a graduate of Goldey Beacom Business School, a life Scout and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Lewis; and a brother, Conrad Lewis.
He is survived by son, John E. Lewis Jr.; daughter, Sherrill LaTour; daughter, Robin Lewis-Wilde and their mother Frances Lewis; brothers, James P. Lewis and Albert L. Lewis; sisters, Miriam Ayars and Nancy Buckingham; and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Remembrance services will be noon Thursday in Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior.
Burial will be at Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to The Diabetes Foundation, The American Heart Association and/or The Boy Scouts of America.
