John E. Kniceley, 84

MILFORD - John E. Kniceley of Milford passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 84.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

John was born in Fairmont, W.Va., son of the late Asa and Janet (Seay) Kniceley.

He was a salesman in the building industry for many years.

John was a charter member of the Milford Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Milford Elks Lodge.

He enjoyed woodworking.

John also attended Calvary United Methodist Church.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel Hudson and Marjorie Hearn.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beatrice (Smith) Kniceley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Davis Shockley of Milford, and Ruth Ann and John Dickerson of Middleburg, Fla.; three grandchildren, Timothy Shockley and his wife Tina, Douglas Dickerson and Erika Lynn Dickerson; three great-grandchildren, Lindsay Shockley, Jason Shockley and Jacob Dickerson; two brothers, the Rev. William Kniceley of Salisbury, Md., and Don Kniceley of Milford; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.

Flowers are accepted, or contributions can be made to the Calvary Café, c/o Calvary U.M. Church, 301 S.E. Front St., Milford, DE 19963.
