Joel Kusner, 76 DOVER - The gentle, loving spirit that was Joel Kusner left this world on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. He was 76 years old. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Nov. 14, 1933, Joel was the eldest son of Ben and Pauline Kusner. After graduating from Case Western Reserve, he began a lifelong career in the drapery industry and eventually owned and operated Dynamic Draperies in Dover, until his retirement in 2007. Joel was respected and admired by his many business associates and customers for his ethics, business acumen, and willingness to help in any situation. Joel is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne DeFlavio Kusner; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Stephanie Stachoni of Bear; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Bill Tice of Shreveport, La.; his adored grandchildren, Bennett, and Ella Tice of Shreveport; a brother and sister-in-law, Lou and Barbara Kusner of Cleveland, Ohio; three nephews, Jack, Peter, and Chad Kusner and their families of Cleveland, Ohio; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Cecil Holtschneider of Accident, Md.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Cynthia DeFlavio of Ligonier, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Johnette Boyd of Ligonier, Pa., and their families. He will be missed by a host of cherished friends whom he considered part of his family and by Doc, his much-loved rescue dog. Joel, Dianne, and Doc were a familiar sight at Brecknock Park on their early morning walks. He was an avid fisherman and his most relaxing times were spent with brother-in-law Cecil on Deep Creek Lake. A Celebration of life will be noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 20, at the Palmer Room of the Modern Maturity Center. Please join us to remember Joel. Donations in Joel's name may be made to the Kent County S.P.C.A or to Mom's House in Dover. Arrangements by Pippin Funeral Home. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
