Joan Marie Dodd Pool

Joan Marie Dodd Pool died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019 after a brief illness. Joan was born on Dec. 1, 1926 in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Edward V. Dodd, Sr. and Helen Jollon Dodd. She graduated in 1944 from
St. Brendan's Diocesan High School in Brooklyn, and in 1948 from St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Md. She worked for Bell Telephone in Brooklyn, Wilmington, and Dover from 1948 to 1955 and, after raising her children, returned to work at Dover Federal Credit Union in Sept. 1974, retiring as branch Manager in Jan. 1993.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sister Helen Edward Dodd, DC; and her brother, Edward V. Dodd, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Zadoc A. (Bill) Pool; and their four children, Vincent (Robin) Pool of Mobile, Ala., Maryellen (Robert) Wray of North Potomac, Md., Regina (Brad) Hogan of Fort Myers, Fla. and Anthony (Teresa) Pool of Dover. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her sister, Ann (John) Dooling of Alton, Ill.; her sister-in-law, Mary Dodd of Camden; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 631 South State Street in Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12 p.m. with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Thomas More Academy, 133 Thomas More Drive, Magnolia, DE 19962, to which Joan and her family had a deep devotion.
