Joan B. Grier, 74

REHOBOTH BEACH - Joan B. Grier of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Bellvue Manor in Wilmington, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at her home. She was 74.

Mrs. Grier was born in Wilmington on Jan. 29, 1933, daughter of the late James and Gladys (Faulkner) Brindle.

A gifted homemaker, she also worked professionally as a claims adjuster in the insurance industry and served as a docent at the Brandywine Zoo.

Mrs. Grier was an incredibly talented baker who prepared beautiful, creative cakes for all family occasions.

She enjoyed many types of arts and crafts, especially sewing, and delighted in trips to the beach with her beloved family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Francis A. Grier, in 2005.

She is survived by four children, Cynthia F. Temple and her husband John of Townsend, Kathryn G. Burke and her husband Robert of Wilmington, David J. Grier of Rehoboth Beach, and James J. Grier and his wife Denise of Elkton, Md.; six grandchildren, Jason and Josh Volk, Adam and Lindsey Temple and Megan and Devon Grier; a great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Scott; and her loving dog, Sneezy.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call after 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Southern Division, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
