Jesse L. Fitzgerald, 73

MILFORD - Jesse L. Fitzgerald, of Milford, departed this life Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. He was 73.

Jesse was born May 22, 1934, in Dryfork, Va., to the late Jesse and Earlie Fitzerald.

He was educated in the Dryfork public schools.

Jesse was employed at King Cole for 10 years and later worked at Steiner & Co. for 10 years before retiring.

On Aug. 31, 1974, Jesse and Mary were united in holy matrimony. They were married for 33 years.

Jesse loved the Lord and would tell everyone he came in contact with about the Lord.

He was a member of the White Oak Grove Baptist Church, Dryfork, and received his ministry license on June 14, 1966, under the leadership of the late Rev. McLaughlin.

After moving to Delaware, Jesse became a member of Mount Enon Baptist Church, Milford, where he served as an associate minister for 43 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Agee Fitzgerald.

Jesse leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Mary Fitzgerald of Milford; two sons, Jesse Fitzgerald Jr. of Milford and Bobby Tunftall of Bronx, N.Y.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty and Calmeze Allen of Kansas City, Mo., and Rose Ann Motley of Danville, Va.; a stepdaughter, Esther Fisher of Milford; an adopted daughter, Thomasine Charleston of Camden; a goddaughter and her husband, Ruth and Thomas Drummond of Milford; two sisters, Margaret and Jesse Terry and Janie Terry, all of Bayside, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Mount Enon Baptist Church, Milford, where friends may view two hours prior.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Church Cemetery, Ellendale.
