Jennie E. Bratton, 95

DOVER - Jennie E. Bratton of Dover died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, in Westminster Village, Dover. She was 95.

Mrs. Bratton was born April 15, 1912, in Concordville, Pa., to the late Arthur Gearhart and Margaret Shahan Gearhart.

She spent most of her life in the Townsend-Smyrna area.

Mrs. Bratton worked summers picking tomatoes in the fields and farming, and then at Scotts Nursing Home, Smyrna.

She was a member of the Modern Maturity Center, Dover, and was a longtime member of the Jehovah Kingdom Hall.

Mrs. Bratton enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers, boating and fishing.

She will be missed by many, as she was such a sweet lady. Her family will miss her the most.

Mrs. Bratton was preceded in death by her husband, Roul Bratton, in 1981; two brothers, Roger and Earl Gearhart; and a sister, Margaret Goldsborough.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jane Rowan of Townsend; five grandchildren, Roxanne, James, Phillip, Ruth and Paul; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior.

Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.
